OFFENSE

There are lots of questions to be answered for the Bulldogs in 2021 as Brandon Ellis takes over the coaching reins in Muldrow. For starters there will be a new spread and multiple I formation offense that Ellis will install. Another question will be who will be running the new offense? Talented junior Trendon Collins (6-0, 160) would seem to be the likely candidate. Though he didn’t see action as the signal caller last year, he did see plenty of playing time at both running back and slotback where he totaled just under 300 yards in offense in six games. “Trendon is a playmaker who has the ability to change the game at any time on both sides of the ball,” said Ellis. “Other teams will have to game plan for where he is on the field.” Another possibility at QB is sophomore Reid Sutton (6-1, 140) who did see time in four games under center last season. Whoever ends up as the Bulldog signal-caller they’ll have experience to throw to in wide receiver Brayden Akins (5-9, 155. Jr.) and tight end Dalton Ogdon (6-0, 210, Sr.). Kaden Chandler (6-0, 165, Sr.) will again be at running back after appearing in six games last year and some muscle in the line also returns in the form of Hayden Boyett (6-1, 360, Jr.). Another player to watch will be sophomore Zack Parker. “Zack didn’t play last year as a freshman but he hit the weight room hard this winter and has a great work ethic. He is a raw kid with lots of talent and we as coaches have to develop him into the system,” said Ellis.

DEFENSE

Like the offense, there will be nine returning faces on defense for the Bulldogs. Collins and Chandler, who led the team in tackles last season with 46, will likely find a place on the defensive side of the ball. Joining them will be linebackers Hayden Livermore (5-8, 190, Sr.) and Creighton Smith (5-8, 165, Sr.) who had 28 tackles last year. At the end spots will be Eli Crumrine (5-11, 230, Sr.)) and Hunter Edwards (5-11, 225, Jr.). And returning in the secondary will be Camden Matthews (5-9, 175, Jr.) and Joshua Price (5-6, 140, Sr.). But like on offense, these guys will be adapting to a changing style as Ellis installs a 3-4 look to better utilize his teams speed and get faster guys on the field. While acknowledging the challenges of last year, Ellis plans to focus the Bulldogs on the upcoming campaign. “Everyone was tested last year by Covid-19. Hopefully, things will return to normal this year. We have our goals set on this year and know that coaches and players alike will have to work hard to achieve those goals.” In an added plus, the Bulldogs will enjoy four of the first five games at home to help adjust to the many changes taking place this year.
