Stigler Cheer – Team Spotlight – Presented By Platinum Nutrition

Stigler High School by size is technically a Class 3A school, however in cheer they compete as a Class 4A school. Last season Stigler competed at cheer state and did very well. Overall, they finished fourth in Class 4A (and were 3rd the year before). The squad also competed in the Game Day state competition and did well with their best effort coming in the Crowd Leading category. Head coach Angie Citty and assistant coach Mackenzie Cole said the team is young this year, but just as eager to get out there and show everyone what they can do despite facing a few setbacks.

“Even though we have been plagued with injuries and illnesses, we made regional runners-up this year and competed last week at state. We had a fluke accident where one girl’s foot was stepped on causing her to fall. It had never happened before and was nothing we could have ever practiced to correct. It’s just the way the cards fell that one day. We, of course, we’re hoping to place higher, but honestly, we are happy to be in the top 5 in the state and so happy with how our girls worked together to accomplish their goals this year,” said Coach Citty.

The captains this season are Katie Matthews and Tristin Weaver. “Katie and Tristin are such assets to our team and great leaders. They are both great students in and outside of the classroom. They both are concurrently enrolled in college classes and looking forward to finishing their high school careers successfully,” said Coach Cole. “Overall, the girls have bonded as a team and worked so hard throughout our summer practices and camps. Now that competition is over, we are excited to just enjoy our time together cheering for the Panthers.”

The seniors on the squad are Katie Matthews, Tristin Weaver, Chloe Carolan, Arianna Eakle and Ruthie Garman. Juniors are Kinley Dill, Gracie Fenton, Emily Gibson, Elizabeth Orme, Carley Pendergrass, Kelly Sloan, and Kenley Ward. The sophomore class includes Kady Bickle, Cambry Boyles, and Emma Zachry. Chloe Bush, Addison Fioretti and Olivia Nolen are freshman this year.
