Wagoner’s Macy Dorr – FFA Spotlight – Presented by Oklahoma Ag Credit

Macy Dorr of Wagoner High School has enjoyed a very busy start to the school year. Not only is she a member of the varsity cheer squad, she’s also a member of the FFA chapter at school. Dorr became involved with FFA while still in middle school.

“I became involved with FFA when I was in eighth grade,” Dorr said. “Before then I was a member of the Wagoner County Clever Clovers 4H Club.”

It was her Ag teacher, Mr. Bryce Hauenstein who encouraged her to join. Dorr is now involved in many other activities within the club, and she loves having the opportunity to meet new people from Oklahoma.

“I love everything in FFA but what I enjoy most is all the leadership summits I get to go to,” said Dorr. “I am involved in Livestock judging, cattle grading, speech contest, horse judging, and our show team. I also show pigs. There is a lot of responsibility, time, effort, and hard work put into working my animals. I love every moment of it.”

Aside from cheer and FFA, Dorr finds some time to be part of the Science Club and STUCO at Wagoner High School.
Dorr said her brother has been a big influence in her life and is thankful for his unwavering support.

“The most influential people in my life are most definitely my family. But my biggest influence is my brother Kaleb. He has TAR Syndrome and has been told he wouldn’t be able to do most things, but he defied the odds, he pushes through anything that is thrown his way. He is my No.1 supporter,” said Dorr.

Her teammates have played a big role in her life as well.

“My favorite thing about cheer team is cheering for our football boys, seeing the crowd and the student section involved,” said Dorr. “I love knowing that they always have my back. They are all special to me. It makes feel like I am a part of something bigger than just myself.”

Dorr offers this advice to anyone wondering if FFA was the right organization for them.

“The FFA has a place for you. No matter what you want to do, there is a spot for you. Don’t be afraid to try new things.”
