Fort Gibson’s Peighton Mullins – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By York Street Tire

While the attention to girls wrestling continues to grow in Oklahoma, the impact of the talents of Peighton Mullins is exploding on center stage as the Fort Gibson sophomore captured a second straight gold medal at the OSSAA state championships.

Competing at 152 pounds this year, Mullins made quick work of her opponents recording three pinfall victories to return to the top of the medal stand and complete the 2022 season with a perfect 18-0 record including a total of 18 falls in competition for the Tigers.  Mullins scored six falls and a 12-1 record as a freshman in 2021 while claiming the gold medal wrestling at 147 pounds.

“Peighton is a hard worker. She is not afraid to workout with the boys and loves to compete,” said Fort Gibson coach Sammy Johnson. “She is a special wrestler who has grown up competing against boys. If we continue to grow in the sport, there is no limit to what she will accomplish.”
