Westville’s Brody Buffington – FFA Spotlight – Presented by OK Ag Credit

A two-sport student-athlete at Westville High School, Brody Buffington plays football and baseball when he’s not spending time with his local FFA chapter.

Buffington started with the FFA during his first year of high school.

“I’ve been in FFA since the ninth grade,” said Buffington. “I show pigs and judge livestock.”

Now a senior, Buffington is looking forward to his final year of high school and one final year in FFA.

“What I enjoy most about FFA is going to shows and judging competitions and the family environment that FFA has,” said Buffington.

The same goes for his teammates.

“I love the brotherhood we have and just having good chemistry on and off the field.”

There are many things about his experience as a student-athlete and FFA member Buffington mentions, but for sports, there are two things that really stand out.

“My favorite sports memories are the Friday night lights and the green grass on the baseball diamond,” said Buffington.

Upon graduating from Westville High, Buffington plans to attend college and continue working in the agriculture industry.

“My plans after high school are to attend college at NEO A&M and work toward my Ag business degree,” said Buffington.

The senior offered this advice to any students that may want to join FFA.

“At least try it. There is so much I’ve learned in my four years of FFA like leadership skills and more Ag focused things like animal science. There are a lot of different things to try in FFA so I would tell someone to at least try it,” said Buffington.

Buffington also mentioned his family as having influenced him to be the person he is today.

“My dad had been my biggest influence. He’s showed me how to work hard on and off the field and has taught me to keep my head high at my lowest and keep my mind right when I’m highest and I couldn’t ask for a better influence,” said Buffington.
