Muskogee Football Preview: Defense – Presented by Honda of Muskogee

Head Coach – Travis Hill

2021: 2-8

The Roughers’ coaching staff spent the offseason bolstering their defensive lineup entering the 2022 campaign that returns only four starters. The 4-3 alignment will defend the edge with the talents of Teyon Brewer, who made 28 stops as a sophomore along with the high energy efforts of Parker Pellet (6-1, 225, Jr.) who recorded 21 tackles last season being joined by Anthony Watson. DeShawn Smith (6-0, 181, Sr.) will captain the defensive charge at linebacker where he made 56 tackles last season and will be joined by Brandon Tolbert and Treyveon Houston (5-9, 200, Jr.). Run support as well as pass coverage duties in the secondary will rest upon the shoulders of Jayden Swanson (6-0, 155, Jr.) along with Ayden Kemp (6-0, 165, Jr.), Teryn Miles (5-10, 150, Sr.) in addition to Jayden Bell and Kayden McGee. “We’re a year older plus we have a lot of players that now have experience in game situations,” Hill said. “Altogether it’s still a work in progress but one that can have success every time we step on the football field. The pieces are here now we just have to put the puzzle together.”
