Tahlequah’s Talyn Dick talks about what the game of basketball has taught her – Presented by Rib Crib

VYPE: What are your goals for this season?

Talyn: My goals for this season are to take it one game at a time and work our way up to winning more games, and at the end of the season, go for the gold ball.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

Talyn: In my daily life, basketball has taught me how to be respectful, how to communicate, be confident as there will be ups and downs, to never give up, and to work hard and achieve your goals.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?

Talyn: My favorite teacher is Mrs. Qualls because she is kind, she helps me with anything I need, she loves basketball just as much as I do, and she goes to all our games and is a great supporter.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

Talyn: My parents are my biggest inspiration. They teach me to work hard on and off the court. They tell me how proud they are of me and it pushes me to become a better athlete/person.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

Talyn: The teammate that has left the biggest impression on me is Jadyn Buttery because she’s a hard worker in practice and in games. She can drive in when she needs to, hit a three and also is a good defender. She works hard on both ends of the floor.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?

Talyn:  My favorite part about being on a team is working together to accomplish something. We have a connection with each other. We’re teammates on the court and even better friends off. My team is encouraging, we motivate each other, we learn from one another, and each person has a good example they set.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

Talyn: For summer vacation I would like to go to the Bahamas with my family. Going to the beach would be peaceful and relaxing.

VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?

Talyn: I’m passionate about basketball because I put all my hard work, effort and dedication into the game and it pays off. It boosts my confidence and gets me motivated to work harder.

VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.

Talyn: I want to say thank you to my parents and to my coaches for pushing me to be my best and for having faith in me. To my parents for their constant support, showing up to all my games, and for being there every step of the way. To my coaches for also believing in me, teaching me how to become a better ball player and seeing potential in me.
