GIRLS
Coach: Dennis Wright
21-22 Record: 3-15
While graduation take a bite out of the Lady Bulldogs returning point production, there’s a new expectation for this year’s team as Dennis Wright takes the reins as head coach in search of answers while implementing a new system. “First of all how well our players are able adapt to the coaching change and everything that comes with it and how well everyone accepts their roles within the structure of the team will be the key to our success,” said Wright. “We’re going to be young, but I expect these girls to evolve into a tough team come playoff time.” Four-year veteran Raegen Gist (5-7, Sr.) who averaged 4.0 points and 1.5 assists reunites with Madilyn Lovell (5-7, Sr.) who added 3.4 points a game as the only two seniors on this year’s Spiro roster. “Raegan brings calmness to the younger players and her ability to catch, and shoot will be a plus this season,” said Wright. “Madilyn is that player that does all the intangible things that may not show up in the score book but make a difference in the outcome.”
The leading scorer returning is Kambri Rogers (5-5, Jr.) who averaged 6.0 points plus creating steals and assists will join forces with Marissa Ramsey (6-0, Jr.), Lyndsey Worth (5-4, Jr.) and KK Watkins (5-7, Jr.). Wright is anxious to monitor the play of Kaylee Martin (5-10, So.), Kailey Seaton (5-5, So.), Akrissa Williams (5-6, So.) and Brooklyn Adams (5-5, So.) who saw action a year ago as well as the addition of freshmen Brynleigh Graham (6-2, Fr.), Kianna Craig (5-5, Fr.), Laylah Steel (5-10, Fr.), Katie Perdue (5-6, Fr.), Aaliyah Harris (5-4, Fr.) and Layla Tobler (5-3, Fr.) compete for minutes on the court.
