Experience under pressure will be a plus this season as Stigler welcomes the return of all five starters from last year’s squad that put all the pieces together leading to a seven-game winning streak late in the season. Hiahni Howard (5-11, Jr.), who averaged 14.0 points while grabbing 7-plus rebounds per contest returns and is expected to continue her consistent productivity that included a triple double and multiple 20-point scoring outings last season. Madi Jones (5-9, Jr.) is the defensive sparkplug for the Lady Panthers who earned All-Conference honors as a sophomore by averaging 5-plus steals per game while shooting over 50 percent from the field including 40 percent from beyond the three-point line and the impact of Jordan Johnson (5-5, So.) last season brings high hopes after a freshman campaign where she averaged 9.2 points per contest, four steals and three assists.
The leadership of Jade Maxwell (5-7, Sr.) as the only senior on this year’s roster will once again be a plus coupled with her unselfish play that produced 4.5 assists per contest last season. A third returning starter is Gentry Powell (5-7, Jr.) who led the team in three-point baskets while averaging 9.0 points per contest. Caitlin Lovett (5-7, So.) who was the sixth man last year as a freshman will play a bigger role in the overall game plan this season. “Intensity on defense and the desire to improve is a key to our success and this year’s lineup will continue to employ that type of efforts this season,” said Hollingshed.
