Hulbert’s Emily Ramos – Cheer Spotlight – Presented by Stuteville Ford

By Scott Metz

Tumbling, dancing, jumping, stunting and shouting cheers are just part of the regimen as a cheerleader.

But for Hulbert High School senior Emily Ramos, cheerleading is a way of life.

Most would consider Ramos a veteran cheerleader, as she elaborated, “I have been cheering since sixth grade, but didn’t cheer during my eighth grade year. I started again my freshman year and have continued to cheer through my senior year.”

Ramos cheers for the Riders in two sports – football and basketball.

Cheerleading has created many life-long memories for Ramos, but when it comes to a favorite memory while cheering, she reflected, “My favorite memory was being on the sideline with my sister, America.”

With regards to who has influenced and inspired Ramos the most, she looks toward her family. She proclaimed, “My sister inspired me the most. She always had a great spirit and pride in our school. She left an everlasting impact on me.”

When asked what her favorite part about cheerleading is, Ramos elated, “My favorite part about cheerleading is starting the cheers or creating memories with my team.”

The thrill of the crowd and the comradery of her fellow cheerleaders create an environment that adds to the excitement of every football and basketball game at Hulbert.

Outside of cheering, there is one particular activity that Ramos enjoys doing, and that is Yoga.

In terms of academics, Ramos stated that, “My favorite academic subject is math.”

Balancing both academics and cheerleading are important to Emily.

After high school, she has plans to pursue higher education. Ramos stated, “I plan on attending college in Oklahoma, and pursuing a degree in the medical field.”

It is clear that Ramos’ determination in both the classroom and on the sidelines are propelling her to new heights after her high school career is over.
