OFFENSE
The Indians enter the 2021 season with a solid group of seniors and a good mix of younger talent looking to contribute this season. Head coach Jason Parker said his team has a lot of talent and the ability to do great things. “If we can establish the run on offense and stop the run on defense, we can be a competitive team. If so, we can be a playoff team if not, it will be a long season,” said Parker. Six starters are back on offense including Garrett Scott (6-2, 175, So.) at wide receiver. Scott accounted for 42 receptions for 800 yards and seven touchdowns as a freshman. Running back Zac Jones (5-11, 185, Jr.) was a big part of the offense last season rushing for 600-plus yards and adding four receiving touchdowns. Trinity Bright (6-2, 185, Sr.) had 25 catches of his own for nearly 300 yards. Quarterback Conner Martin (5-11, 180, So.) amassed 400 yards passing and three touchdowns in only two games. The offensive line features Andon Jerrell (6-3, 290, Sr.) and Elijah Clouse (5-11, 285, Sr.). Clouse is a four-year starter while Jerrell is considered a next level prospect and likely to play at the DII level.
DEFENSE
Many of the eight returning starters will go both ways for the Indians including Clouse who moves to nose guard on defense. Last season the big man had 45 tackles and 12 tackles for loss from the spot. Jerrell will play tackle giving the Indians two guys who are tough to block in the middle. Jerrell recorded 20 tackles last season. Kolby Masterson (6-2, 180, So.) is a big free safety who loves to hit. Masterson missed most of last season due to injury but has returned and is ready to rock. Colton Billy (5-9, 240, Sr.) starts at middle linebacker where he made 85 tackles, 15 for loss. Ian Hardwick (6-0, 175, Sr.) will play corner alongside Scott. Hardwick is a transfer from Fort Smith Northside and is expected to have an immediate impact. Scott was stellar at corner making 38 tackles, four interceptions and six pass breakups. Look for the Indians to run a 3-3 stack with an emphasis on stopping the run.
