Muskogee’s Ben Fulbright – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Monica Medley Century 21

Junior Ben Fulbright is pursuing his dreams on and off the diamond at Muskogee High School. A pitcher and first baseman for the Rougher baseball team, Fulbright is also a star in the classroom. He’s a member of the National Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society and is studying information technology at the Indian Capital Technology Center which is the career he wants to pursue after high school.

“Ben has been in our program since the seventh grade and he’s the kind of player every coach hopes for,” said his baseball coach John Singler. “He’s one of our top arms this year and even though he’s just a junior, he’s been one our leaders through his example of hard work. The kids respect and look up to him and he’s great with the younger kids.”

Ben got started playing baseball in the second grade and his dad was his coach for many years. He’s also played summer ball with a team called the Diamond Hogs. Rather than a particular player to take on as a role model, Fulbright has always relied on his older teammates to fill that role.

“I’ve always looked up to my other teammates and they’ve helped me grow as a ball player.”

Even though his older brother was not an athlete, he has been a source of motivation for Ben.

“I’ve always looked up to him and he’s always been a very supportive person in my life.”

Fulbright says he enjoys the challenge of being on the mound for the Roughers.

“I like being in control of the game and it really let’s you take a hands-on approach to the game. And if you do well, it gives you a pretty good feel of accomplishment.”

Fulbright describes himself as studious, motivated and a go-getter and he enjoys playing video games and doing some coding in his spare time.
