Head coach – Brad Gilbert
2021: 7-4
Coming off another playoff appearance last year, the Tigers enter the 2022 campaign on a new journey as reclassification has bolted Tahlequah into 6A-II competition with seven starters returning to the offensive unit including their top four receivers. Race Stopp (5-10, 168, Jr.) totaled 40 catches averaging 11.6 per reception five touchdowns while Cale Matlock (6-3, 188, Sr.) averaged 13.7 yards per catch with four scores will be joined by Jacob Morrison (5-11, 185, Jr.) who added 27 catches averaging 12.5 yards per grab and Beckett Robinson (6-2, 185, So.), who battled injuries totaled 10.2 yards per catch in five games. Brody Younger (6-1, 177, Jr.) moves into the starting role at quarterback to manage the multiple formation attack after completing 47 percent of his throws in five games while Cash McAlvain (5-11, So.) and Beckett Robinson add depth. Opponents can also expect the Tigers to use the downhill running talents of Josh Munoz (5-10, 198, Sr.) and Darryn Spahr (5-10, 197, Jr.) to power the ground attack. The development of the offensive line will be critical where the Tigers will rely upon the experience of Tate Whittmore (6-5, 307, Sr.) and Kale Shankle (6-2, 252, Jr.) to win the front-line battles. “While we’re filling in key positions due to graduation, we believe we have the kids to get the job done to allow us to maintain a balanced attack,” said head coach Brad Gilbert. “Like most years, the key for our offensive success will be our execution in the offensive front.”
