Keys Fast-Pitch Softball Preview – Presented by Northeastern Health System

The Cougars expect to benefit from the lessons learned last fall with expectations of a turnaround campaign this fall.

“We have a good core coming back and will have no seniors this year,” said head coach Nick Zodrow. “We’ll be young again but we’re looking to make positive strides this year.” 

Back to “set the table offensively” will be middle infielder Bailey Davis (Jr.) while Zodrow expects to find power at the plate behind the bat of Maddie Hamby (So.) who will also guard the corner the Cougars infield defense.

Zodrow will look to Sarah Kelley (Jr.), Ella Green (So.), and Jasmine Shaw (Jr.) for playing time on the infield dirt while Kylie Forrest (So.) will anchor the defense at catcher as well as taking her turn throwing from the circle along with Hamby.

The outfield abilities of Paige Foreman (Fr.), Kamy Green (Jr.), Emmalee Hodge (So.) and Eric Ward (Jr.) will play a vital defensive roles as well as adding to the opportunities to put runs on the scoreboard. Competition will be intense for the Cougars while playing in 3A-6 district action against state qualifier Kansas along with tradition rich Sequoyah Tahlequah, Sperry, Vian, Spiro and Roland.
