Muskogee Volleyball Character Counts with Maddi Havens – Presented by Neighbors Building Neighborhoods

Muskogee senior Maddi Havens believes that there are several factors required to be successful as a student athlete. Havens plays libero for Muskogee volleyball and is a back-row defensive specialist. Coaches have remarked on her hard work, dedication, and success on and off the court. Havens demonstrates high character qualities which allows her to be a leader in the classroom, on the court, and in the locker room.

“In my opinion good volleyball players encourage teammates, have passion, drive, and a love for the game,” Havens said.

Havens is passionate about volleyball and excels as a defensive specialist, but is just as passionate about her activities off the court where her character really shines.

“I also help as a manager for the varsity soccer team and am involved in STUCO,” Havens said.

Going into her senior year, Havens has set goals both for herself and for her team.

“As an individual I want to accomplish getting into my dream school and enjoying life while I can,” Havens said. “My goal for our team this season is to be very competitive and finish the season with many new records for Muskogee volleyball.”

After high school Havens plans to enroll in college and follow her dream of becoming an orthodontist.

When Havens needs inspiration or someone to ask for advice she turns to her cousin.

“Someone that inspires me would be my cousin, Trae, because he always showed me to dream big and go for everything and never look back,” Havens said.

Going into her senior year, Havens wants to make the most of her time in Muskogee as she prepares for the future. She hopes to add to a list of wonderful memories she has accumulated over the years. However, a few standout in particular.

“My favorite memory attending Muskogee High School would be winning the spirit stick with my class,” Havens said. “My favorite memory on the court is being able to see and hear our student section after crazy plays.”
