Fort Gibson’s Kenzie snell – Athlete of the month – presented by york street tire

“Defense Wins Championships”…the three word phrase definitely defines the contributions of the defensive midfielder for the Lady Tigers soccer team who used a smothering defensive effort to win the Class 4A girls soccer state championship. Snell, who played the second half of the state semifinal win over Woodward as well as the gold medal winning effort against Metro Christian Academy with a broken wrist, anchored a defense that allowed just six goals all season while posting 13 shutouts in the Lady Tigers’ 15 wins.

“Kenzie is a true competitor,” replied head coach Billy Whitehead referencing the efforts of the sophomore this season. “She knows the meaning of hard work, not just playing soccer but also in the classroom where she maintains a 4.4 GPA.”

The academic achievements of Snell were part of Fort Gibson also winning the Class 4A Academic State Champions for girls soccer.
