OFFENSE

Larry Childers has had enough of retirement and returns to Porum as head coach of the Panthers for the 2022 season with 44 years of experience under his belt. Six starters return from last year’s squad. Leading the way for the Panthers is quarterback Seth Brown (6-1, 175, Sr.) a well rounded field player with a strong arm and good field vision. “Brown has the ability to make plays with his speed and quickness when the protection breaks down,” Childers said. “He is a good leader and has excellent skills and throwing mechanics.” Lane Bailey (6-1, 230, Jr.) will be the leader on the offensive line. Primarily a center, Bailey can also play guard, or fill in wherever his team needs him. Cooper Franklin (6-1, 225, So.) and Braden Stennet (5-9, 142, Sr.) will fill in at a variety of skill positions on offense.

DEFENSE

The Panthers will have five returning starters on defense in their 3-2-3 base defense. Childers will look to make defensive adjustments as the season progresses and adapt his defensive scheme to get his players into positions where they can be the most successful. Franklin and Cooper will use their size and speed to make an impact on defense. With another year of experience under their belts, the Panther coaching staff is excited to see how the two continue to develop and grow on and off the field. Stennet, an experienced defensive leader, led the team in tackles in 2021 with 95. Drew Brown (So.), Bo Chapman (So.), and JR Robinson are athletic underclassmen with bright futures that should play important roles for the Porum Panthers this season.
