OFFENSE

The Gans Grizzlies are coming off a tough season in 2021 but return this year more experienced and ready to hit the field with a fresh approach. “I have always preferred to line up in a power formation and attack the defense, but it depends on our players,” Morton said. “We spread the field more often with our current players to create opportunities, but we will have to wait and see what our skill players are capable of and how hard our line works in the weight room.” Up front guard Charlie Bellar (5-11, 280, Sr.) and center Jacob Watson (5-10, 220, Jr.) will be relied upon to set the tone early and establish the Grizzly rushing attack and fullback Logan Bennet (5-10, 270, Sr.) is the type of guy you don’t want to see running at you with a full head of steam. Quarterback Nakota White (6-0, 155, Jr.) is a dual-threat player that and can make plays through the air or with his legs and vision when running around defenders. He has shifty receiving targets outside in Caleb Martin (5-8, 120, Jr.) and Brett Gee (5-10, 130, Jr.) that have great pass catching abilities and are willing to go up and get the ball.

DEFENSE

Six starters return on defense for the Grizzlies and expect to see a lot of familiar faces, but count on some younger guys to provide depth. “We need to fill some key positions that have graduated, but young players could step into some big roles,” Morton said. Two-way player, Bellar will appear at nose guard, Martin and Bennett will fill in at linebacker. On defense Gee appears as a pass rusher and White a hybrid linebacker. Ashton Langston (5-10, 145, Jr.) will make appearances in a variety of positions. “We feel that we have a good shot at making the playoffs this upcoming season but we also know there is a lot of hard work ahead,” Morton said.
