Pretty is as pretty does…and for Gracie Fenton, she’s pretty right in everything she does.
“My mom (Jennifer) has told me that all my life. What she’s reminding me is that you may not be friends with everyone but you can absolutely be nice to everyone,” explained the Stigler High School senior. “Really, it means you can be the prettiest girl in the world but if your attitude is ugly, it doesn’t mean anything. That’s why every day, I try my hardest to treat people with kindness.”
A four-year member of the Panthers varsity cheerleader squad, Gracie admits she tries to let her actions do all the talking to prove the feelings of her heart and faith in God.
“Success is earned by hard work and commitment. As a cheerleader, that’s required a lot of blood, sweat and tears,” said Fenton. “Being a Christian example is most important to me. I’ve been raised in church and try my hardest to show that everyday.”
Those commitments and displayed cheer skills provided Gracie an invitation to Cheer Hawaii USA. Through kindness and a willingness to do whatever it takes to build school spirit and in the community recently resulted in Gracie being voted Homecoming Queen at Stigler High School.
“She is one of those kids who works hard and excels at everything she does. Gracie is a leader in our school and spends a lot of time serving her community as well,” said Angie Citty, cheer coach at Stigler. “She owns a small business, Snow Pokes. Gracie is well-rounded and favored highly by her instructors.”
As president of the FFA chapter, Fenton is busy showing cattle as well as being part of the agricultural communications and cattle grading team. She is also senior class president in addition to being an active participant with the speech and drama programs at school.
Despite the demands of a non-stop schedule, her every effort displays a genuine character, something Fenton holds close to her heart as the youngest of five children.
“I’ve always been known as the ‘Fenton girl’ here in Stigler,” chuckled Gracie noting that she has four older brothers. “That’s why character is so important to me because it’s your reputation and you only get one.”
