Coach: Brooks Cawhorn Jr.
21-22 Record: 17-11
After a couple of trips to the state tournament, the Howe Lions had a disappointing early end to the season last year and with new head coach Brooks Cawhorn leading the way, they hope to get back on the road to Oklahoma City this year. The Lions return a pair of starters in Kobe Wooten (5-10, Sr.) who averaged 8.0 points per game last year and Jaxon Remy (6-0, Sr.) who put in 3.4 points per game in 2021. “Kobe is a returning starter and leading returning scorer,” said Cawhorn. “He attacks the basket very hard and is a consistent perimeter threat. Jaxon is a solid player that will play both inside and outside and has a high basketball IQ as well as being a natural leader.” Howe will also welcome the return of Brayden Dalton (6-5, Sr.) who was injured a good part of last season. Taking on the point guard spot full time will be Garrett Smith (5-10, So.) who averaged 2.3 points and 1.3 assists per game last season. “After getting varsity time last season, Garrett has taken the lead in assuming that role full time this year,” said Cawhorn. Other players expected to make contributions for the Lions this season will be Trendon Corley (5-10, So.), Braden Blake (6-2, Jr.), Josh Toney (5-10, Jr.) and Kyler Brown (6-0, Jr.). “Learning a new system always takes time but we are excited about our prospects as we move forward,” said the new Lion boss.
