CAVE SPRINGS HORNETS
Coach: TOM OSBURN
2-8
OFFENSE
Size and speed make a perfect combination for the Hornets offense as Tom Osburn returns to the sidelines as head coach in 2023. The “big guys” in the trench provide plenty of pass protection and have the mobility to extend plays by making blocks beyond the line of scrimmage led by center Dustin Linville (5-8, 230, Sr.) along with Kelby Sam (5-10, 290, Jr.), Joseph Roy (5-10, 305, Jr.) and Evodio Leon (5-10, 285, So.). The quickness and agility of Arik Duncan (5-8, 140, Sr.) at quarterback gives Osburn plenty of options in play calling including giving the ball to Camden Owl (5-8, 150, Jr.) at running back.
DEFENSE
The Hornets will align in a 3-1 Flex scheme that allows for the cornerbacks Duncan and Owl to make the most of their speed in order to be aggressive against the run and active in pass coverage. Sam and Leon will lock the outside edge at defensive end while Roy wins his conflicts on the line of scrimmage at nose guard and allows Sam to roam sideline to sideline and make contact at linebacker. “These guys will be the nucleus of our success. There are a few other younger players that could become game changer athletes as well. Cave Springs will open early with an August 24th home date and will also play eight of its scheduled 10 games on Thursday nights.
