VYPE: What goals do you have for this year?
McKenna: My goals for this year are to make a better connection with my teammates and to have a fun senior year where I try things I haven’t experienced yet.
VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?
McKenna: Cheer has taught me how to communicate with my teammates and that I have the ability to push through anything. Along with teaching me that it’s okay to make mistakes. I use these along with many other things in my daily life.
VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?
McKenna: My favorite teacher would have to be Mrs. Gilbert because she always encouraged, listened, and made me feel special.
VYPE: Who inspires you and why?
McKenna: My former coaches Nikki James and Tad Puetz. They were my coaches for the 5 years that I cheered competitively at Twist & Shout. They have inspired me to be the best person I can be inside and outside of cheer. They have pushed me mentally and physically all throughout my cheer career and are always showering me with love, while showing me that I can do anything I put my mind to.
VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?
McKenna: The teammate that has left the biggest impression on me is Ashanti Perez. She cheered with me at Twist & Shout for three years and she has always shown what it takes to be a good teammate. She was always doing whatever it takes without complaining and was always there for anyone if they needed something. She has left a huge impression on me and has inspired me to be more like her.
VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?
McKenna: My favorite part about being on a team is the family aspect and being able to create close bonds with the people on my team.
VYPE: Who in your family is the best athlete?
McKenna: I would like to think that I am the best athlete in my family.
VYPE: What’s one sport that you wish you could play that you don’t already play?
McKenna: I wish I would have tried to play volleyball. It looks like something fun that I would wanna try.
VYPE: What profession would you like to work in?
McKenna: I am still undecided on what profession I would like to work in but I am
interested in something in the medical field.
