In any team sport, teammates who inspire and support each other are invaluable. For McCartney, Gunner Dosher and Gabe Dosher from the previous season were his role models. Their leadership and dedication served as a source of motivation for him.
McCartney’s favorite teacher, Coach Douthit, played a significant role in shaping his character. “He’s influenced me to be the best that I can be, and has always believed I could do anything,” McCartney said.
Off-season preparation is crucial for any athlete, and McCartney takes it seriously. “Something I like to do during the off-season is to go to football camps, learn skills and master those,” he said. “I also lift weights year around.”
Football teaches invaluable life lessons, and McCartney has embraced them. He cites discipline, perseverance and the importance of always giving your best as key takeaways from the sport.
This season, McCartney has set ambitious goals. “I hope to win our district and win the state championship game,” he said.”
Beyond high school, McCartney has clear plans. He aims to become a welder and work on the pipeline. However, if the opportunity arises, he’s open to the possibility of playing college football.
Bladin McCartney is not only a talented athlete but also a young man with a strong work ethic and a clear vision for his future. As he continues his football journey, he leaves a lasting mark on his team and his school, embodying the Pirate spirit both on and off the field.
