KEYS LADY COUGARS
GIRLS
Coach: Kruz Lynch
22-23 Record: 7-15
Keys head coach Kruz Lynch likes the makeup of his team going into year two with the program. “We are very excited to see this team play come December. We return everyone but one from last year’s team and added some very talented freshmen,” Lynch said. “We had quite a few of our girls spend their summer traveling from gym to gym playing and getting shots up, so we are really looking forward to seeing the progress they have made.”
The Cougars will count heavily on VYPE Top 100 candidate Payton Zodrow, an incoming freshman that will be asked to defend opposing team’s best player on a nightly basis.
“Payton is a high-level player with a high-level IQ, especially for a freshman,” Lynch said. “We expect her to guard the best player each night as well as taking care of the basketball for us. I definitely see her being someone people talk about for the next four seasons.”
Senior Bailey Davis returns as the team’s leading scorer. “Bailey is a senior who we’re excited to see back on the floor. She led our team in scoring last season and it was really only her first year to play a lot of varsity minutes,” Lynch said. “Bailey has been patient her whole basketball career and I believe this will be the best season yet for her.” Another key returnee is sophomore Kenlee Comer. “Kenlee is a 5-foot-10 sophomore who has done nothing but improve,” Lynch said. “She has really grown as a player over the summer and we’re excited to see her play this season.”
