With the return of four starters and the “6th Man” from last season, the Lady Panthers are eager to tipoff the new season riding the wave of success from 2023. A trio of double-digit scorers with head coach Gary Hollingshed a balanced scoring attack. Madi Jones (5-7, Sr.) begins her third year in a starter’s role topping the point parade with a 14.3 average in addition of grabbing 6.5 rebounds and setting up teammates for easy baskets with 6.1 steals and 2.4 assists per contest. Another three-year starter Hiahni Howard (5-11, Sr.) who averaged 12.3 points will give Stigler a dual threat scoring punch along with a strong performer on the boards where she averaged 7.2 rebounds per game.
“Madi is a 2-time all conference and defensive player of the year. She not only led our team scoring, Madi will pick your pocket defensively where she has totaled 250 steals in her career,” said Hollingshed referencing the two VYPE Top 100 nominees.
“Hiahni is a 2-time all conference and offensive player of the year that can score from the perimeter as well as finish in the paint. She goes all out to secure the rebound on both ends of the floor.” The guard plays of Gentry Powell (5-6, Sr.) another three-year starter who recorded 10-plus points per game and Jordan Johnson (5-6, Jr.) who added 9.4 points along with 5-plus steals and 3.0 assists will bolster the defensive pressure along with scoring production. Caitlin Lovett (5-7, Jr.) who has earned plenty of game time minutes the past two seasons and Ashton Hollis (5-5, Sr.) will likewise play key roles for the Panthers this season. “Intensity on defense and the desire to improve is a key to our success and this year’s lineup will continue to employ that type of efforts this season,” said Hollingshed. “We finished last year on a roll and I’m hopeful we pick up where we left off.”
