9 Questions With Stigler’s Cameron Eakle Presented By Dunn Ford

VYPE: Can you tell us a bit about your background, both in terms of academics and sports?

Cameron Eakle: I play basketball and baseball, and I am a straight-A student.

VYPE: What inspired you to start playing your sport?

CE: Watching Russell Westbrook with the Thunder made me want to start playing basketball.

VYPE: Which athlete, professional or otherwise, do you look up to and why?

CE: My older brother; he has pushed me to become the best version of player I can become.

VYPE: How do you balance the demands of academics and athletics in your daily schedule?

CE: I set aside certain times to do homework every night to make sure I will be caught up before having to play games. And other times I am not at school or doing homework, I am either practicing baseball or basketball and trying to get better.

VYPE: Can you share a memorable moment or achievement from your high school sports career that stands out to you?

CE: Beating Eufaula in a district basketball game last year; the atmosphere was awesome at our home gym.

VYPE: What challenges have you faced in your sports journey, and how did you overcome them?

CE: Breaking my collarbone in the eighth grade and not being able to train, get better and be ready for my freshman season of baseball and basketball.

VYPE: How has being part of a team influenced your personal growth and character development?

CE: Playing with teammates means a lot. They become your family from the start of the season, and you learn to have good chemistry with the guys out there.

VYPE: What role do your coaches play in your development as an athlete, and is there a particular coach who has been especially influential?

CE: The coaches always push me in the off-season to get better, coach Tyler Guthrie and coach Chris Parker always push me to get better before the season starts and it has showed this season.

VYPE: What are your plans after high school?

CE: I want to go play college baseball.
