Double Trouble on the Diamond: The Williams Twins’ Softball Journey Presented by Cross

On the softball diamond, the Williams twins, Avery and Kambry, have created quite a stir. These senior twin sisters from Eufaula High School, known for their exceptional teamwork as a pitcher-catcher duo, have just finished their last fast-pitch season together.

Avery had high expectations for this last season with her sister. “My main goal was always to go to state, and playing with my twin sister has been a game-changer for me,” Avery said.

Kambry also shared a similar sentiment. “The past four years have been a blast,” she said. “Doing it with my twin sister has made it even better. We push each other more than anyone else.”

The Williams twins revealed that they started playing softball because their friends were doing it, but the game quickly became a significant part of their lives. Kambry’s role as a catcher, originally by default, soon turned into a love for the position.

Avery emphasized her and Kambry’s connection and how it has played into their success on the field. “Kam fully understands me and how I pitch,” Avery said. “She’s the one who makes me look good, and she really doesn’t get enough credit for what she does.” Kambry added to her sister’s perspective. “We know each other and what we both need to succeed, and I think that has definitely benefited both of us in our game.”

Their deep bond as twins spills over onto the softball field. “We are best friends on and off the field, so being this way has allowed us to help each other out and give each other support in a positive way,” Avery explained.

In terms of their playing styles, Avery, the pitcher, focuses on hitting spots and changing speeds to throw off batters. She admitted that their greatest challenge comes from experienced hitters. “They are tough to throw to, but I’ve always been pretty good playing under pressure,” Avery stated.

The most memorable moment in their softball journey was securing a win that led them to state. “We both knew their best hitter was up, so I made sure to set up off the plate to give my sister a better target,” Kambry said. “She threw the perfect pitch to strike out the last batter, and we secured the super-regional title.”

Handling pressure together is their forte. “We remind each other that we will go through it together and that the other is not alone,” Kambry said.

Balancing individual and team goals is crucial for the twins. “Every win is a team win, and every loss is a team loss,” Avery noted.

Off the field, they remain inseparable. “We hang out with each other almost every second of the day,” Kambry said. “We are each other’s best friend, so we basically do everything together.”

The best piece of advice they’ve received as softball players is to control their effort and attitude. “Being able to control these things and applying them to my game has allowed me to be the best player I can be for my teammates,” Avery said.

As for their future, they plan to stay together, whether in softball or beyond. It’s clear that the Williams twins have an unbreakable bond, both on and off the field, that will continue to drive their success.
