Eufaula Ironheads The Winning Tradition Continues- Presented By Bank of Eufaula

Excellence…the achievements of the Class of 2022 are well documented by victories in multiple areas for this year’s senior class. Your example has created a legacy for others to follow including the academic achievements set by the Ironheads Top Ten.

Leading the way is 2022 Valedictorian Justis James. The son of Preston and Shasti James, Justis has attended Eufaula schools for 14 years. A four-year member of the National Honor Society, Oklahoma Honor Society as well as FCA, Justis played basketball and golf for four years and ran cross-country three seasons. Justis was named Oklahoma Academic All-State by the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association. His future plans are to attend Oklahoma State University and pursue a degree in the medical field.

The Salutatorian is Adison McLaughlin. She has attended Eufaula schools since Pre-K. Adison, who has been on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll every semester of her high school career, is member of the National Honor Society and serves as Senior Class President. Adison played basketball, fastpitch and slowpitch softball all four years and has been a member of the FFA for five years. Future plans include attending college to become a Physician’s Assistant, getting married and have a few children.

Adison is the daughter of Adam and Jill McLaughlin. She has one brother, Grayson. She is the granddaughter of James and Dian Dawson and Bob and Carla McLaughlin. She is currently serving as the Senior Class President.

Also earning Top Ten academic achievement honors are Victorian McCowen, Caleigh Rippy, Eden Gray, Tyler Lee, Makenzie McIntosh, Cole Wilkinson, Alexander Parish and McKenzie Crawley.

Eufaula 2022 senior Eden Gray is one of just 100 Oklahoma students to be awarded Academic All-State honors by the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence. To be nominated for Academic All-State, students must meet one of the following criteria: an American College Test (ACT) composite score of at least 30; a combined SAT evidence-based reading & writing and math score of at least 1370; or be selected as a semi-finalist for a National Merit, National Achievement or National Hispanic Scholarship. Gray will receive a $1,000 merit-based scholarship and a medallion. Academic All-Staters will be recognized at the foundation’s 36th annual Academic Awards Celebration on May 21 at the Omni Hotel in Oklahoma City.

For the eighth time in Ironhead boys’ basketball history, 2022 senior Alex Parish continues to receive recognition as the 6-3 guard was awarded All-State basketball honors by the Oklahoma Coaches Association. Parish, who averaged 23.8 points per game in his final year for the Ironheads and played a vital role in the Ironheads reaching the Class 3A state tournament in 2021, will participate in the All-State games where he will be coached by Eufaula boys’ basketball coach, Jeff Oliver. In four years, Parish scored 1,453 points, averaging 16.7 points per contest in 83 games for the Ironheads. The basketball classic will be played Thursday, July 28th at Jenks High School as part of the OCA All-State games and Coaches Clinic. Parish will also compete in the All-Star by class showcase on June 4th hosted by the Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Association in Edmond at UCO.

A 23-year veteran, coach Oliver has continued the success of Eufaula basketball the past seven seasons. “Coach O” has compiled a 68-28 record in boys competition including a 2021 state tournament qualifier plus a three-year mark of 48-19 with the girls’ program with the 2020 Lady Ironheads qualifying for the state tournament.
