Eufaula Ironheads – The Winning Tradition Continues- Presented By Bank of Eufaula

SWEEPSTAKES AGAIN

The Pride of Eufaula did it again by winning the 2022-23 Sweepstakes Award following another superior performance at the OSSAA State Contest held at East Central University in Ada.  An OSSAA State Sweepstakes Award is the highest award possible for a high school band.  It is a year-long journey and the students must obtain a Superior Rating at the OSSAA Regional Marching Contest in the fall followed with Superior Ratings at the OSSAA District Concert Band Contest and achieving a Superior Rating on stage and in sight reading at the OSSAA State Concert Band Contest.  This year marks the 22nd Sweepstakes Award in school history. The award is the equivalent of an athletic state championship.

The Pride of Eufaula also earned the 2023 Distinguished Academic Achievement Award as the 75-member band maintain a combined 3.59 grade point average.

CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS ON THE LINKS

Up and In for the WIN…the girls and boys golf teams battled the field and came out at the top of the leaderboard during the Heartland Conference championship tournament played on their home course at Fountainhead Golf Club. Teeing it up for the girl’s crown were juniors Gracie Lasiter and Rhyatt Dunn joined by senior Savannah Goodman, sophomore Jadence Efurd and freshman Gracie Burke.

The scorecard for the Ironheads boys includes senior Riley Morgan joined by juniors Trent Montgomery and Andrew Robinson, sophomore Cody McNeill and freshman Drake Sutherland. Ironheads golf coach is Jared Efurd.

SWINGING THE BATS

Moving into the final weeks of the spring season, Eufaula baseball rounds second headed for third with expectations of earning a berth in the Class 3A state tournament in May. Coming off a 25-10 record last year, head coach Josh Luna’s lineup has proven to be competitive while earning wins against top level teams in all classes. Veteran starters include senior Luke Adcock, who is committed to play at Seminole State College and junior Draven Gragg who combine to give the Ironheads a solid offensive output bolstered by plenty of power at the plate. Among the players adding to the run scoring totals as well as solid pitching and sound defense are seniors Brett Pippenger and Kaden Bumgarner along with juniors Jaxon Lange, Taber Grider and Preston Dalton along with sophomores Carson Luna, JP Hicks, and Hayden Robinson and others to make up the 19 player roster.

PLAYING THEIR BEST

Lady Ironheads slowpitch softball is finding its groove at the right time with OSSAA playoffs fast approaching. Hanging their hats on consistent defense combined with stringing hits together has coach Ryan Green’s lineup putting up good numbers. Kate Pippenger, Kambri Williams, Gabby Noriega, Katie Tidwell and Shyanne Maxwell are loading up the bases to score runs giving Makayla Harjo insurance as she works from the circle.
