Eufaula’s Gracie-Jane Lasiter – Golf Spotlight – Presented by Sam Wampler’s Freedom Ford of Eufaula

“Golf just runs in our family and so when I could walk, they gave me a golf club and told to hit it.” And that’s how Eufaula senior Gracie-Jane Lasiter got started on what has been a stellar career of golf for the Ironheads. She is one of three sisters to hit the links for Eufaula over the years and golf coach Jared Efurd has had them all at some point.

“I coached all three girls (Faith the oldest and Hope) at some point. Gracie-Jane is like the mother hen of our team and leads by example for what is a pretty young team.”

Being one of three sisters has had its competitive moments for Gracie-Jane but also provided a lot of wisdom and experience.

”My one main goal throughout my golf career has been to end up being better than my sisters. Faith has taught me most of what I know and even today she helps me a lot,” said Gracie-Jane who is also in the National Honor Society, FCA and is a manager for the football team.

She has been to the state tournament every year at Eufaula, last year placing in the top 20 for her best finish yet with this year’s goal to place in the top five and make All-State. The team has been to state two of the three years and every year their goal is the same until now. “

This year our goal is to not only get there but to go as far as we can and hopefully place,” said Lasiter.

As a team leader, Gracie-Jane gives it all she can.

“This year I’ve worked a lot with one of our freshman girls who had never swung a club before and I feel like I’m always there for the girls whether it’s help with a swing, or a ride to or from practice or homework.”

This year Gracie-Jane and her teammates have already captured the conference title as they work their way towards state. She will head to Seminole State to play golf next year but hopes to return.

“Anytime I can I’ll want to come back and watch them play because I love these girls so much.”
