Eufaula’s Trent Montgomery – Golf Spotlight – Presented by Cross

Trent Montgomery, a senior at Eufaula High School, is a dedicated golfer who carries the “one bag” role and finds his drive in wanting “to be better than I was the last time I played.” Reflecting on his influences, Trent shares the people that have impacted him most: “My three biggest role models have been my mom, who has shown me to always be positive, my dad, who has shown me to always try my hardest, and my grandpa, who has shown me that it is always better to do the right thing, rather than the thing that might benefit you most.”

Expressing gratitude towards his history teacher, Roger Thompson, Trent notes, “He has challenged me as a student and as a person. I have already gone on one history tour with him and will be going to Europe with him after I graduate.” To excel in golf, Trent emphasizes the importance of continuous practice, sometimes dedicating “6 or 7 days a week.”

For Trent, the joy of golf lies in “getting to play tournaments and hanging out with my friends.” His competitive spirit is driven by personal growth, stating, “I don’t really have an opponent I want to beat the most; I just want to improve and do my best to beat the course.”

Among his teammates, Trent values the friendly rivalry with Cody McNeil. “My favorite teammate to work against is my two bag Cody McNeil; we got into golf at the same time and have competed against each other every tournament for the last two years.” He believes in the equal appreciation of everyone on their golf team, ensuring that all receive the credit they deserve.

Representing his school and community through golf holds immense significance to Trent, something he will not forget anytime soon. “It means a lot to me to be able to go play golf and represent my school and community.”

Aside from golf, Trent is involved in National Honor Society and plans to attend Oklahoma State University to major in nursing after high school.
