Fort Gibson High School senior Parker Lockhart is a member of the varsity football and gold teams. The senior also participates in FFA and National Honor Society. As a student- athlete, Lockhart said he enjoys being around his teammates on the football field and on the golf course.

“I absolutely love the coach and the teammates. Some of my best high school memories are with the high school golf team. I love the jokes and the good times, but we always push each other to be better.”

Being a member of the FFA chapter has allowed Lockhart to pursue other interests outside of sports.

“My favorite part of the FFA is all of the people that I meet and all the skills I have learned that will help me in the future. I have always been involved in the stock show world, and I have always known I would go into the FFA. I am currently the president of the FFA chapter at Fort Gibson, show cattle, give extemporaneous speeches and plan to give prepared this next year,” said Lockhart.

Lockhart was in the eighth grade when he first joined FFA. Now showing heifers and steers while serving as chapter president is his focus.

The senior said anyone interested in joining the FFA chapter at Fort Gibson should reach out and speak to a member.

“It would absolutely be beneficial to you in the future. You learn so many good things and meet so many helpful people,” said Lockhart.

Thanks to his mother, Lockhart said she has pushed him to try new things and has
encouraged him to attend college after high school, which he will do at Oklahoma State University as a pre-law major.
