Coach: Gary Hendrix
21-22 Record: 18-8
There’s a buzz inside the Hornets gym that will include several new faces as veteran Gary Hendrix enters his 36th season as a head coach takes the reigns for 2022-23. There are plenty of questions still be answered for the Hornets that revolve around the injury list that includes Logan Harper (6-4, C, Sr.) the only returning starter who awaits the results from a knee injury. Hendrix is keeping an eye on the training room as Jax Kerr (6-8, F, So.) continues recovery from arthroscopic knee surgery earlier in the fall. “Obviously Logan and Jax will really help us with the athleticism and size.
We’ll hope for the best results for both kids,” said Hendrix. Cole Leach (6-4, F, So.) who has already be offered by Arkansas to play baseball will provide a strong and solid presence in the rotation of players who will be joined by sharpshooter Ryder Clayborn (5-9, G, Sr.), Van Morphis (6-1, G/F, Sr.) who can score in traffic and the wing along with Rance Reynolds (6-0, G, Jr.). The success of the Hornets football team may delay the readiness of other players before the Christimas holidays including Lamarion Burton (6-0, G, Sr.) and Eric Virgil (5-10, G, Sr.) who played multiple minutes as a sophomore. A quartet of sophomore including Hayden Pickering (5-7, G, So.), Mason Forehand (6-0, G, So.), Ty Wilson (6-1, G/F, So.) and Cole Marshall (6-2, G, So.) are expected to added depth to the Hilldale roster. “We’re learning a new scheme of play that evolves around an inside first offense and defensive intensity that takes time,” said Hendrix.
