GIRLS
Coach: Keni Jo Burns
22-23 Record: 11-14
There’s a new sheriff in town for the Hilldale girls as Keni Jo Burns takes over the coaching reins at Hilldale. “We are looking to be a fast-paced team this year with a solid returning class and great talent in our younger players. Expect our team to have high energy on both ends of the court.” Senior guard Catelin King, a VYPE Top 100 nominee, will be the focus of attention for opposing teams facing the Hornets. “Catelin is a guard that can do it all,” says Burns.
“She scores inside and out with quicks hands and feet on defense. She’s very athletic and smart on both ends of the court.” The other senior on the roster for the Hornets is Maci Scott. Burns will also have a handful of juniors that will be expected to have an impact this season including Kensley Allen, Mariah Cundiff, Naveah Mcnack, and Emma Noe. The sophomore class also has players that will be looking to make contributions like Lilly Beverage, Hannah Mocha, Ella Roach, Macie Mackey, Darian Diles and Grace Nail with the latter two seeing lots of playing time last year. “Darian is a 6-0 forward who can bring the ball up the floor and score inside and outside. She’s very quick and has great hands-on defense. Grace just absolutely works her tail off no matter what it is-every drill, every conditioning practice, every game she is 100 percent on” said Burns. Freshman Natalee Cope is much the same way according to Burns. Cope is joined by fellow freshman Charlee Medley on the Hilldale roster.
