Hilldale Lady Hornets Girls Basketball Preview – Presented By York Street Tire

Girls

Coach: Cliff Warford

21-22 Record: 9-13

Describing the outlook as a work in progress, the Lady Hornets have just one full-time returning starter and only one senior on this year’s roster. Catelin King (5-6, G/F, Jr.) who averaged 6.3 points per game by making the most of her 21 made three-point attempts and 75 percent accuracy from the free throw line is the only starter. “We’ll rely upon on Caitlyn for her leadership as well as her scoring,” said head coach Cliff Warford who is all smiles with the return of senior Brooklyn Ellis (5-3, G, Sr.) who didn’t play last year. Hallie Foreman (5-6, P, Jr.) and Emma Phipps (6-0, P, Jr.) will provide added depth in the post position as well as giving a stronger presence on the defensive glass.

Maci Scott (5-1, G, Jr.) and Kensley Allen (5-4, G, So.) saw limited varsity action at guard and Warford expects to due to provide added threats for scoring from beyond the arc while Emma Noe (5-4, F, So.) and Rylin Clark (5-8, F, So.) will figure into the player rotation. The youth of the Hilldale roster includes Darian Diles (5-9, P, Fr.) whose length and athleticism will help with the inside productive while Ashtyn Warford (5-4, PG, Fr.) and Grace Nail (5-5, G/F, Fr.) add to the strength and playmaking skills at the guard position. Macie Mackey (5-4, G, Fr.) and Lilly Beverage (5-2, G,Fr.) will add athletic offensive threats with the ball along with Kendli Purdom (5-8, P, Fr.), Kensly Dubin (5-4, G/F, Fr.), Hannah Mocha (5-3, G/F, Fr.) and Tatum Dunn (5-3, G, Fr.). “We’re young and inexperienced but our goal is to keep weathering the storm and ultimately be playing our best basketball in February,” Warford said with a thumbs up expression.
