MASON EDWARDS

Keota High School

By Payton Moody

Meet Mason Edwards, a standout senior football player from Keota High School, who is all set to make his mark on the field in his final year. Edwards’ dedication, support for his teammates and aspirations beyond high school exemplify the spirit of a true competitor.

Throughout his athletic journey, Edwards’ favorite coach has been coach Eric Henry, whose impact on him has been profound. “Coach Henry always challenges me to be better. He’s always there for us if we need anything,” Edwards said.

Edwards’ camaraderie with his teammates stands out, particularly with his fellow seniors. “All the seniors on my team have always been my support system, and I’ve always supported them,” he said. “All for one, one for all.”

Edwards’ preparation for the upcoming season is a testament to his commitment to improvement. “Getting bigger was a primary goal. No way I can be the player I want to be and be as skinny as I was last season” is his goal, underscoring his dedication to enhancing his physical capabilities.

Football’s impact transcends the field for Edwards, teaching him the value of being there for each other. This sense of unity and support is a lesson he carries into his daily life, fostering connections and building strong relationships.

Among his cherished memories, Edwards recalls the excitement of last season’s home playoffs, eliminating the need to travel far. This memory reflects not just the thrill of the game but the sense of pride in representing his school on the Lions home turf.

As he enters his senior year, Edwards’ aspirations remain high. He aims to set a remarkable record: “First of all, I want our team to win a gold ball. Individually, I want to break the record for the most receiving touchdowns in Keota’s history for eight-man football.”

When asked about matchups, Edwards’ eyes are set on the Quinton game.

Beyond high school, Edwards has clear plans. “I want to try and become an electrician,” he shares. This career path underscores his practical approach to the future and his determination to excel in all aspects of his life.

Mason Edwards’s senior year is poised to be a culmination of his dedication, hard work and passion for the game. His impact on and off the field will undoubtedly leave a lasting impression on the Keota High School football legacy.
