Hi, what are you looking for?

Muskogee

Muskogee’s D’Mya Brown talks about what basketball has taught her – Presented by Hamlin’s El Toro

VYPE: What are your goals for this season?

D’Mya: My goals for this season are to be a better teammate, and go hard at anything I do and help lead my team to a championship.

VYPE: What has your sport taught you that you use in your daily life?

D’Mya: Basketball has taught me to overcome adversity, the importance of discipline and to always believe in myself no matter the circumstances.

VYPE: Who is your favorite teacher from any grade and why?

D’Mya: Mrs. Cash is my favorite teacher because she had high structures in her classroom, but it was a safe place where we were encouraged to share, think, and express ourselves. She also helped me see the good things in myself.

VYPE: Who inspires you and why?

D’Mya:  My family is very inspiring because they show me all aspects on how I should live my life through their experiences like education and  work ethic. My family’s past experiences also teach me how to live my life the best way possible.

VYPE: What teammate has left the biggest impression on you and why?

D’Mya: Jakayla Swanson has left the biggest impression on me because nothing negative ever comes out of her. She is always so supportive and positive through any circumstance.

VYPE: What is your favorite part about being on a team?

D’Mya: I think my favorite part of being on a team is the relationships that form within us, a sisterhood that I will never forget.

VYPE: You can pick any place for a summer vacation, where do you go and who do you take with you?

D’Mya: Out of all the summer vacations that there is, I would like to go to Paris, France and just have a moment with my family.

VYPE: Why are you passionate about your sport?

D’Mya: It’s a game that I fell in love with and shows me how far hard work can get you when you don’t give up, and if I stay determined and focused there will be a good outcome to get better each and every day.

VYPE: Here is your chance to say hello, goodbye or thank you to anyone you wish.

D’Mya: First and foremost, I would like to say Thank God for allowing me to play the game, my family for always having my back and supporting me, every coach that I have played for and trained with or even assisted with me. My friends who have supported me and went with me through this journey.
