Muskogee’s Ellie Ficklin – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Economy Pharmacy

All athletes have a least one moment throughout their career that stands out as their favorite. It could be a personal milestone, a team accomplishment, or something else, but that time in their career was important enough for them to never forget it. Ellie Ficklin is preparing for her senior year at Muskogee High School and she says that her top moment happened last season but she is ready to make more memories this upcoming season.

“The highlight of my career was when our varsity dance team qualified for state last season,” she stated. “I’m very excited to see how we do at state next season because of our growth and improvement.”

Fickline is a member of the MHS varsity dance team, a competitive studio dance team, varsity volleyball, club volleyball, and beach volleyball. Away from sports, she is also involved in a number of groups around campus.

“I am involved with leadership classes, the National and Oklahoma Honors Societies, the Science Club, the Ecology Club, and the Superintendent’s Advisory Council,” Ficklin stated. “I also take AP and concurrent courses.”

In order to get to where she wants to be, Ellie knows that it takes more than just showing up, she also has to prepare herself.

“To be successful, you have to stay consistent in practice and out of practice,” she said. “Don’t waste your time or reps, make every thing count. My teammates motivate me. I work hard to better myself but also to better my team.”

Along with putting in the work, Ficklin also has a great support system around herself that encourages her and pushes her to be her best.

“My biggest role models would be my parents and my younger brother,” Ellie said. “They all work hard to better themselves and everyone around them. I want to give a big shoutout to my MHS varsity dance coach. Coach Kyah, without her we wouldn’t even have a dance team at Muskogee. Kyah puts a lot of work behind the scenes to make new dances for us. She pushes us while also making practice and games enjoyable.”
