Muskogee’s Sarah Davis – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Monica Medley of Century 21

There are moments throughout each of our lives that are important or special to us for any number of reasons. It could be a life changing event or just a sentimental moment. Nonetheless, we hold these memories close because of their importance.

Sarah Davis is a cheerleader for Muskogee High School. She says that while she has enjoyed a lot of great times with her squad, there are a few things that she counts as her favorite.

“I would have to say that the highlight moment of my career would be attending all the cheer competitions,” she stated. “They are special to me because they gave me the opportunity to build a better connection with my team.”

Davis, who is a junior, says that her life has been impacted by many people but she says that there is a special group that she has looked up to.

“The women in my family are my biggest influences,” she stated. “They are important because, despite hardships in life, they have persevered and become strong independent women.”

While their influence has been important, Sarah knows that in order to be successful, she has to be willing to put in the work and continually improve.

“Being successful in cheerleading means putting in the extra work and having the confidence within yourself to know that you can improve with practice,” she said. “I keep myself motivated with my desire to become a better person and encourage my teammates to do the same.”

Davis’ fellow cheerleaders have also been important to her success. While they all work hard to be their best, she says that there are a few that stand out.

“I think that Christalynn Green is a teammate that I battle with in practice,” she said. “Not battle in a bad way but instead, we push each other to be better because we both share the strong desire to be the best at whatever we do. Another teammate, Hali Hemenway, probably is under appreciated. She deserves a lot of recognition for the improvement of her skills and achievements.”
