OKAY MUSTANGS

BOYS

Coach: Chad Clark

22-23 Record: 26-3

#MustangMania…the excitement of reaching the Class B state championship finals last season has the energy in the Mustangs corral at a feverish pitch. With all five starters as well as key performers returning, everything is OK with the Mustangs as the 2023-24 season begins.

Chase Clark

VYPE Top 100 nominees Diezel Davis (5-9, Jr.) who paced the scoring charts with 16.1 points per game while distributing 6.1 assists and collecting 5.2 rebounds and Chase Clark (6-2, So.), last year’s “Fab Freshman” who averaged 13.4 points while grabbing 6.1 rebounds and sharing the ball to total 6.7 assists per game and Tito Ramos (6-2, Sr.) who recovered from an ACL tear as a sophomore to contribute 8.5 points per contest will once again lead the cast of playmakers.

“Diezel can score with anyone. His motor runs non-stop and his work ethic is unmatched,” said Chad Clark who begins his 21st season at Okay. “Chase has become a more physical style of playerwho can score and Tito is a player that refuses to lose.” The veteran experience from three other seniors including Duckee Swimmer (6-3, Sr.), Ashton Walters (5-11, Sr.) and Bryant Allen (5-4, Sr.) will solidify the Okay lineup that will play at an up-tempo style pace. Swimmer, Walters and Bryant contributed 10-plus points per game in the race to the Big House. “Those three seniors are blue-collar, do whatever it takes to win type players that are determined to take us back to the Big House,” said Clark, who also will look to Bryson Parnell (6-2, Jr.) who also totaled 10 points per game to add to the point parade. Creating depth off the bench will be Daniell Rodriguez (6-1, Sr.), Jaden Delue (6-1, Jr.), Deagan Sims (5-9, Jr.) Rylen Burk (6-0, Jr.), Braiden Russell (5-11, So.), Jorden King (5-11, So.), Clinton Torix (5-8, So.), Hunter Beshirs (6-3, Fr.), David Brunson (5-9, Fr.) and newcomer to the camp Jonathon Dodds (6-1, Sr.). “This bunch can score but every player wearing the Mustangs uniform will tell you defense is just as important and will be a major part of our DNA that can give us the opportunity to get back to the state tournament,” Clark said with a smile.
