Oktaha’s Brynn Surmont – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by York Street Tire

The inspirational leader on the dirt this spring, Brynn Surmont was a key figure in
the Lady Tigers winning the Class 4A slowpitch softball state championship. Taking
the hot shots off the bat with a consistent glove at third base, the 2023 senior was
also a game changer at the plate with a .509 batting average, producing 56 hits in
110 chances, including 23 extra-base hits. She also recorded 43 RBIs while scoring
42 runs.

The combined efforts earned Brynn her second All-State honor after gaining
the same award during the fastpitch season where she played catcher at Oktaha.
The athletic talents and leadership earned Surmont a college scholarship where she
will play softball at Murray State College in Tishomingo.
“Brynn has all the intangibles you want on your team,” said coach Kia Holmes.
“By her example of doing things right, she has the knack for attracting the
involvement of everyone on the team and making our team stronger as a whole.”
