PORUM PANTHERS
Coach: BRIAN PATTERSON
4-6
OFFENSE
The turnaround for success for the Panthers began last year going from a 1-win season in 2021 to four victories and a near miss of the playoffs in 2022. As Brian Patterson takes the reins as head coach for the upcoming season, the building process continues. “We have several key returners coming back and I look forward to continue moving forward and securing a B-5 district playoff run,” said Patterson. Leading the offense at quarterback will be VYPE Top 100 nominee Gage Scarberry (5-10, 160, Jr.). Targets for the strong armed signal to get the ball to will be wide receivers Luke Johnson (6-2, 160, So.) and J.R. Robison(6-2, 160, Sr.) while tight end Cooper Franklin (6-3, 260, Jr.) can make sure hand receptions as well as lead the power sweep. Anchoring the offensive line and keeping the defense out of the backfield will be Drew Brown (6-2, 250, Jr.) and Bo Chapman (5-11, 240, Jr.).
DEFENSE
The Panther defense will work to stop the run and swarm to the ball starting up front where Franklin, Brown, and Chapman will be on the defensive line looking to disrupt the plans of their opponents. There’s quickness in the secondary where Johnson and Robison will lockdown at cornerback while Scarberry roams at free safety defending the run and pass. “When we all pull the rope in the same direction, we can be a tough and physical team capable of winning on Friday night,” said Patterson.
