Q&A with Stigler’s Kinley Ward – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Dunn Ford Company

VYPE: What teacher has had the biggest impact on your life? How?

Kinley: Definitely my speech and drama coach, Mrs. Kasey Parsons. She loves each and every kid she comes in contact with and she wants the best for everyone. She pushes each kid to the best of their ability, and together she and her husband demonstrate just how love is supposed to be, all while loving God and keeping him the center of their lives. She is such an inspiration and I hope to be half the woman she is someday. She has taught me much more than just how to act in a play.

VYPE: What has it taken to be successful in what you do?

Kinley: Perseverance and unwavering faith in God.

VYPE: What motivates you?

Kinley: Pushing the limits to be the best I can be at whatever I do.

VYPE: What sports/activities/clubs are you a part of?

Kinley: Throughout my high school career, I was on the varsity cheer team for three years, golf for one year, and high school rodeo for one year. I was also in speech and drama for two years. I was part of the one-act state champion drama team, and I was part of 12-angry women’s play and Tinkerbell in the state-qualifying Lost Boy play.

VYPE: Who is your favorite person you follow on social media?

Kinley: I really don’t think that I could pick just one, I have worked hard to make sure my social media feed is filled with positivity and inspiration. I think it is so important to do this, especially with how toxic it can become if you don’t watch who you’re following.

VYPE: What does it mean to you to represent your school and community?

Kinley: Freshman year is when it really clicked that I was representing my school and community,  my coaches and teachers began to stress just how important it was to have a great character in and out of school. Still a Panther, still the cheerleader that little ones look up to, and still Tinker Bell from the play. I want to represent my school and community the best I can with respect and class.

VYPE: What has been the highlight moment of your time in high school?

Kinley: Definitely Winning State in the One Act play. We had worked so hard and it paid off, such an incredible experience that I will cherish forever.

VYPE: Any other info that you think would be good to know?

Kinley: My biggest advice to those still in high school, make the most of what you have, don’t take the little things for granted, be nice to everyone, stop caring what others think, wear what you want, and do what makes you happy, and most of all have fun and don’t blink because it ends so quickly.

VYPE: What are your plans for the future?

Kinley: My plan is to attend Southeastern and pursue a degree in personal communication and broadcasting. My dream is to use that degree to get a job working as a host for the Cowboy channel in Fort Worth Texas.
