When the Roughers take the mat this season under the leadership of head coach Chetan Munsell, it will be with a roster full of wrestlers ready to make an impact on the program.
“For the first time in several years, we have a full lineup and have depth in the room again.
We are still growing and developing as a team. While we graduated a few key starters, we have some young student-athletes in the room that have a fire in them. Our Junior High is developing as well and growing in numbers,” said coach Munsell.
Thomas Lewis has assumed a leadership role with the Roughers and coach Munsell believes this young man can be a factor late in the season.
“Thomas has stepped into a leadership role on our team. He leads on and off the mat. Thomas has won the Bixby Open in the preseason and looks to take that momentum into the regular season for us,” said coach Munsell.
Brandon Tolbert comes over from football after a solid effort on the gridiron. Tolbert was two wins shy of qualifying for the Class 6A state tournament last season and is hungry to make it to the Big House.
A new face in the wrestling room is Wesley Platt. Platt enjoyed a very successful junior high career and is setting goals for himself and the team at the high school level. Platt works hard and pushes himself every day to grow, according to coach Munsell.
Other wrestlers to watch include Caleb Melton, Jayden Smith, Dylan Wood, and others.
