Stigler Panthers 2023 Boys Basketball Preview Presented by First National Bank of Stigler

STIGLER PANTHERS

BOYS

Coach: Chris Parker

22-23 Record: 15-11

With the advantage of three returning starters and game time experience moving from the bench to the floor, the Panthers outlook for success this season is building day by day.

Jayden Gould (6-5, Sr.), a repeat VYPE Top 100 nominee returns for his fourth season in the starting lineup using his agility to knock down the open shot to average 11.3 points as well as collecting 7-plus rebounds per game per contest. Hunter Self (5-10, Jr.), another Top 100 designate, enters his third year in the first five where he averaged 10.0 points and 6.4 boards each night. Head coach Chris Parker is all smiles when pointing out the Top 100 basketball skills of Jackson McCarter (5-9, So.) who in end proved to be the team leader in scoring by averaging 11.5 points per contest and the leadership of McKade Peery (5-9, G, Jr.) that Parker defines as a player that does all the necessary things to win that don’t always show up in the statistics. Cameron Eakle (5-9, G, Jr.) who saw plenty of time on the court playing multiple positions as last year’s sixth man will play a bigger role in Stigler’s game plan this year. The veteran coach of the Panthers will rely upon Kaiden McCarter (5-9, Sr.), Cade Parker (6-1, So.), Landon Hodges (6-2, Jr.) and Gavin Jones (6-1, So.) to solidify the results in Parker’s rotation of players. “We plan to continue to build upon the end of year success from the beginning this year,” said Parker who enters his seventh season as the head coach. “We lost a little size, but the returning experience gives us an added plus. We can be balanced scoring as well have create added depth with our young players. Defense will always be our calling card.”
