Stigler’s Ashton Hollie – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Dunn Ford

At Stigler High School, Ashton Hollie, a standout basketball player, credits Coach Hollingshed as her favorite mentor, emphasizing not just his impact on her game but his role in personal growth. “Not only has he helped me grow as a player but also as a person,” she said. “He cares for all of us like his own daughters. If you don’t know Gray Hollingshed, you are missing out.”

Acknowledging the collective strength of her teammates, Ashton expresses admiration for their unwavering support: “I can’t name just one teammate because they have all supported me and been there when I needed them. I wouldn’t trade this team for anything.”

In the realm of academics, Mrs. Henson stands out as Ashton’s favorite teacher, offering inspiration and support. Ashton appreciates Mrs. Henson’s influence, sharing, “She inspires me to be a better person every day. She was there when I needed her the most, and I will never forget that.”

As the off-season unfolded, Ashton focused on personal development, participating in team camps, and dedicating time to shooting and running. Reflecting on the lessons from basketball, she emphasizes the values of hard work and determination, noting that greatness arises from challenges.

Recalling a thrilling moment during homecoming against Hartshorne, Ashton recounts a buzzer-beater three-pointer by teammate Hiahni Howard that led to an overtime victory, marking it as her favorite memory.

Looking ahead to the upcoming season, Ashton aims to step into a leadership role both on and off the court, aspiring to play consistently and contribute to the team’s success. When asked about specific matchups, her enthusiasm shines through, expressing, “I’m looking forward to every single game.”

Post-high school plans for Ashton include pursuing a career as a Radiologist, highlighting her commitment to academic and professional excellence. Ashton Hollie’s journey in basketball reflects not only athletic prowess but also the invaluable lessons and relationships forged on and off the court.
