DALLY ENGLE

Stigler High School

By Payton Moody

Good character counts everywhere, but it truly makes a difference in the sphere of high school athletics. Dally Engle, a remarkable junior catcher and utility player from Stigler High School, exemplifies this belief through her outstanding achievements both on and off the field. With an impressive record, including being chosen as the All-District Player of the Year in 2022, a batting average of .474, .833 slugging percentage and eight home runs, Engle’s prowess as one of Oklahoma’s best defensive catchers is well-respected.

Dally’s journey has been marked by excellence, earning her the title of All-District Player of the Year as a sophomore and All-District Catcher of the Year as a freshman. Her exceptional skills are evident with a recorded 1.79 pop time, a testament to her defensive capabilities. Playing for the renowned Oklahoma Athletics 2024 Madden/Clemmer team, she has already made her mark on the national stage.

To excel in her sport, Engle dedicates herself to constant improvement.  “My season never really ends because of travel ball,” she said. “I prepare for both travel ball and school by lifting, hitting and going to lessons every week.”

Sports provide valuable life lessons, and for Engle, competition and hard work have become integral aspects of her daily life. “My sport has taught me how to compete and work hard in my life, not just through sports, but life in general.”

Looking forward to the upcoming season, Dally is hopeful and excited for some big matchups. “I’m looking forward to playing against Poteau this year because I have a lot of respect for them and I know they’re going to be good,” she said.

As she plans for the future, Engle aims to play college ball at the highest level she can and pursue a degree in criminal justice. Lastly, Engle is adamant regarding the importance of good character in successful sports teams. “Yes, I do feel it is vital because a good team is not individuals; it’s one whole,” she said. “Everyone has a part, and your character comes into play in those tough moments.”
