Stigler’s Ella Waselkow Athlete Spotlight Presented by Dunn Country Ford

Ella Waselkow, an accomplished cheerleader from Stigler High School, is making a name for herself on and off the mat.

When asked about her favorite coach, Ella recognizes Coach. Citty, her current coach. “She has always supported me and pushed me to be the best athlete and person I can be,” Ella said.

In her cheerleading journey, Ella finds inspiration and support from her teammate, Emma Zachry. Their enduring partnership has been marked by unwavering support, with Emma consistently cheering Ella on.

Among her favorite teachers, Ella holds Mr. Shimp, her art teacher, in high regard. “He has taught me so many life lessons while I’ve been his student,” she said. His unwavering support and encouragement have instilled in Ella the belief that she can overcome challenges and always strive for her best.

For the upcoming season, Ella’s off-season preparation focuses on honing her tumbling and jumping skills. She devotes extra time to tumbling practice, sometimes staying after regular cheerleading practice or visiting a nearby tumbling gym.

Ella underscores the leadership and communication skills she’s gained through cheerleading. Serving as one of the captains this season, she’s gained vital leadership and communication abilities that extend beyond cheerleading.

Her standout memory in cheerleading revolves around her nomination to attend a neat experience. “My favorite memory in my sport is being nominated to attend and also attending Cheer Hawaii USA,” Ella said. This opportunity not only enhanced her cheerleading skills but also offered valuable lessons in leadership and life.

In the coming season, Ella aims to achieve stronger jumps and tumbling, focusing on personal growth.

She looks forward to the game against Checotah, especially since it’s their senior night. Ella hopes to rally behind the Stigler football team and secure a victory.

Beyond high school, Ella aspires to pursue a degree in nursing and eventually become a certified labor and delivery nurse. She also hopes to continue her cheerleading journey in college.

Ella Waselkow, with her strong commitment and leadership, exemplifies the values of dedication and perseverance.
