Stigler’s Jayce Winkle – Athlete Spotlight – Presented By Stigler Milling Co. LLC

Since the beginning of the 2022 football season, Jayce Winkle has been explosive on the field. In just four weeks, the varsity starter has crossed the end zone 12 times, averaging three touchdowns per game. So far, his best game this year, the senior stud racked up 145 yards and 24 points in the 56-6 victory over the hosting Catoosa Indians.
“We had a good game plan going into the game, and all we had to do was execute it, and we did,” said Winkle. “The o-line did their job, and Mckade did a great job getting me the ball.”
Jayce’s performance on the field tells a story of his commitment to his team and himself. Like every year before him, players come and go; and players step up. This season that one player is Jayce!
“Jayce is an electric athlete with the ball in his hands. He’s the biggest and strongest player on our team, but also is top four in speed on our team,” said Stigler Panthers head football coach Cade Shearwood. “He has played both offensively and defensively so far in the 2022 campaign, and we only expect more great things from Jayce.”

Standing 6’5, the DE/TE has accumulated 72 of the 195 points the Panthers have collaborated on this season. Some of his senior stats include 169 rushing yards, 229 receiving yards, eight tackles, and one sack.
Jayce contributes his success to his teammates. As the saying goes, there is no I in team. When I asked him what teamwork means, he responded, “Just having everyone invested in what you’re trying to accomplish as a team.”
Jayce Winkle values the need for integrity and respect including the family like relationship with his teammates/brothers and coaches. However, there is one person like no other in his life, and he calls him dad.
“I wouldn’t be the person I am today if it wasn’t for my dad,” said Jayce.
Jayce’s devotion to the game is evident on the field. You can hear and feel the passion in his deep country voice.

“Getting to hit people and not get into trouble for it.”
In addition to playing football, Jayce is active in weightlifting and drama. After high school, he plans to attend college and pursue a degree in exercise and sports science.
