Vian Wolverines Girls Basketball Preview – Presented by Vian Family Dental Clinic

GIRLS
Coach: Tina Taylor Ramos

21-22 Record: 12-13

The impact of losing five senior starters to graduation creates an opportunity for members of the Lady Wolverines roster to prove their abilities on the court this season. The lone senior on this year’s squad, Maci Smith (5-9, G/F, Sr.) will be the glue that holds the youthful lineup together as a hard working vocal leader that has the respect of her teammates. The sixth man a year ago who made a few starts, Avery Wright (5-8, F, So.) delivers a strong post presence as well has the ability to score off the dribble or score from the three point line. After playing limited minutes last season, Rebel Simon (5-7, G, So.) brings a defensive approach to the court and gives coach Tina Taylor Ramos a non-stop team first effort.

Vian will have a pair of sophomores sharing time at point guard as Kala Gibbins (5-5, G, So.) and Annie Neal (5-5, G, So.) bring quickness to the floor along with an aggressive defensive style of play. Skyelar Locust (5-7, F, Jr.) will be asked to continue to do the unseen things in the statistics that she did a year ago that created winning chances for the Lady Wolverines. Others involved in the total team effort include Jaden Frazier (5-5, G, So.), Kalli Kennedy (5-6, G, So.), Halli Russell (5-7, G/F, Fr.), Kiah Richardson (5-8, F, Fr.), Rayleigh Terrill (5-9, F, Fr.), Ayden Crittenden (5-7, G, Fr.) and Averey Smith (5-7, G, Fr.). “This team is eager to make a name for themselves as a reward for their hard work and shared team spirit,” said Ramos. “It’s a great group of girls that are eager to learn and willing to do whatever is asked of them.”
